Why I Teach at St. Michael School I choose to work at St. Michael School because I believe that we educate the whole child, seeing to the students' academic needs as well as spiritual and emotional needs. I desire to be a part of a school where faith permeates the entire day and where students can feel free to express their beliefs and their love of God. Finally, I love working where the staff, faculty, and families are one community united in raising scholars and saints.
My Philosophy of Teaching My philosophy of teaching centers around the idea that a student's mind is a garden which requires care and direction to be fertile and bear fruit. We as teachers can plant the seeds of knowledge and work with the students to discover ways to nurture that seed using the tools that are unique to each child.
My Background I graduated locally from Granada High School. I received my Bachelors of Arts from Cal State Hayward (East Bay) in Liberal Studies with an option in English, where I graduated magna cum laude. I completed my California State Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Masters of Arts in Teaching at the University of San Francisco. I also received my Basic Catechist Certificate from the Serra Catechetical Institute through the Diocese of Oakland.
My Life Outside St. Michael I am married and have three children (all graduates of St. Michael School), and a loveable Labrador retriever named Maizie. My main hobby is music. I have played the piano and studied voice since the age of eight. (You may see me at St. Michael Parish singing or playing for weekend Masses.) I also enjoy traveling, reading, knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, and watching British TV shows. My favorite thing is anything to do with roses: scents, prints, etc.
