Catholic Schools Week

National Catholic Schools Week is an annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. Now entering its 50th anniversary year, Catholic Schools Week will be celebrated January 25 through January 30.

St. Michael School will observe the week with mass, assemblies and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members to celebrate and congratulate the great work and good news of our school. 

Sunday, January 25

• 9:30 a.m.:Family Mass followed by Open House Students are asked to wear their school uniform with pride
  • Check-in with your student's teacher in the classroom for a treat if they attended Mass in their uniform
  • Come see your child’s work and to get a sneak peek at what next year will be like for your child by touring the school
  • Head over to the Hall to explore the science fair and enjoy a morning snack

Monday, January 26 - Celebrating Vocations Day

• Full mass School uniform with full mass uniform for grades 3 - 8
• Throughout the school day, each class will say a decade of the rosary or a full rosary (depending on grade level) for Bishop Michael Barber, SJ, our Pastor, Father Carl Arcosa, all Priests and Deacons, and for our Dominican Sisters of San Rafael.
• Livermore Valley Opera will perform The Magic Flute for students.

Tuesday, January 27 - Celebrating Parents Day

• PE uniform
• 2:45 p.m.: Parents are welcome to join us for a spirit rally led by Student Leadership as we celebrate Student Day

Tuesday , January 28 - Celebrating Teachers and Staff Day and Kids Against Hunger

• School uniform, Mass uniform for grades 2 - 8
• We will celebrate our teachers and staff who have chosen to be in Catholic education, so that they may share their faith with our school community. 
• Students will participate in the Kids Against Hunger service project to support the children and families who are in most need in Modesto.

Thursday, January 29 - Celebrating Students Day

• School appropriate free dress with tennis shoes for all students.
• 2:45 p.m.: Parents are welcome to join us for a spirit rally led by Student Leadership as we celebrate Student Day.
• 6:30 to 8 p.m.: SMS Families are invited to Family Science Night in the Hall provided by the Lawrence Livermore Lab and the Tri-Valley Stargazers for this family friendly evening.

Friday, January 30 - Celebrating Grandparents Day

• Mass uniform 
• 10 to 11:45 a.m.: Grandparent's Day
• 12 p.m.: Dismissal with no afternoon Eagle's Nest.
  • Grandparents will be “shared” in the classroom amongst all students and will be able to visit multiple classrooms
  • We ask that each student have no more than 2 grandparents in the classroom at a time for space/safety reasons
  • RSVP by January 31 if your child’s grandparent(s) will be attending Grandparent’s Day
